✍️ The Design: As I redesign flags in my "Better State Flags" series, I usually look in a state's history to see if they had something good to pull from. Many people told me to just use this flag for Illinois and I hemmed and hawed about it for a long time. Finally, I agreed that there's no point in redesigning the wheel here and that Wallace Rice (also the designer of the 100% perfect Chicago flag) did a great job and we should make them.
