The asexual pride flag is four stripes: black, grey, white, purple. It came out of a 2010 contest run on AVEN, the Asexual Visibility and Education Network, back when the ace community had no single symbol to point at and decided to just go make one. Fifteen years later it's one of the most recognized flags in the Pride catalog...not bad for a design that started as a forum thread.
The grey stripe is the part worth slowing down on. Most identity flags draw a line and stand on one side of it. This one built in a stripe specifically for the people in between, the grey-asexual and demisexual folks who don't fit the strict definition and were never going to be served by a flag that pretended the spectrum was a switch. That was a thoughtful call, and it's the sort of thing you only catch if you go looking.
