True South Antarctica Flag
š“Ā Ā 'True South' Flag of AntarcticaĀ with grommets and double stitched edges to reduce fraying.
We are proud to print and sell True South in close collaboration with Evan Townsend, theĀ flag'sĀ designer.Ā His passion and love for the continent of Antarctica and its conservation is contagiousĀ and we couldn'tĀ be more excited to be a part of this initiative.
āļø The Design: TheĀ True South Flag was designed by Evan Townsend in the winter of 2018 on the continent of Antarctica. The first iteration was made from the scraps of canvas tents and field bags. His design consists of horizontal stripes of navy and white that represent the long days and nights at Antarctica's extreme latitude. In the center, a lone white peak erupts from a field of snow and ice, echoing those of the bergs, mountains, and pressure ridges that define the Antarctic horizon. The long shadow it casts forms the unmistakable shape of a compass arrow pointed south. Together, the two center shapes create a diamond, symbolizing the hope that Antarctica will continue to be a center of peace, discovery, and cooperation for generations to come.
