Albania Flag 🇦🇱
3' x 5' polyester Albania Flag with grommets and double-stitched edges to reduce fraying.
✍️ The Design: The national flag of Albania is widely considered one of the most striking and visually powerful designs in the world. Known as the Flamuri i Shqipërisë, it features a bold, blood-red field charged with a black double-headed eagle. This iconic bird traces its roots back to the Byzantine Empire, but it was immortalized by the legendary hero Skanderbeg (Gjergj Kastrioti), who used the eagle on his seals while leading a 15th-century revolt against the Ottoman Empire.
The symbolism is as fierce as the design suggests. The red field represents the bravery, strength, and blood shed by Albanian patriots in their long pursuit of freedom. The black double-headed eagle represents the sovereign state and the nation’s self-identification as Shqipëria, or the "Land of the Eagles."
Albanian Flag Day (Dita e Flamurit) is celebrated every November 28. This is the most important holiday in Albania, as it commemorates two monumental events: the day Skanderbeg raised the flag in Krujë in 1443 and the day Albania declared its independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1912. During these festivities, the flag is draped from every balcony and paraded through the streets of Tirana, serving as a defiant symbol of national unity and a heritage that has survived centuries of foreign rule.
