Suriname Flag 🇸🇷
3' x 5' polyester Suriname Flag with grommets and double-stitched edges to reduce fraying.
✍️ The Design: The flag of Suriname is a vibrant tapestry of color that tells the story of a nation built on harmony and diverse heritage. Adopted upon independence in 1975, this striking banner replaced the colonial-era design with symbols that truly reflect the soul of the "Greenest Country on Earth."
The design features five horizontal stripes of green, white, and red. The outer green bands represent the nation’s lush landscapes, fertile agricultural lands, and the vast, untouched rain forests that cover the majority of the country. The inner white stripes symbolize justice, freedom, and the purity of the people's intentions. At the heart of the flag is a broad red band, a tribute to the blood shed for independence and the progress toward a better future. Centered on this red field is a large golden five-pointed star—a "star of unity" representing the various ethnic groups that make up Suriname’s rich cultural mosaic, as well as a beacon of hope for a prosperous tomorrow.
The Surinamese flag is a proud tribute to a nation that serves as a bridge between the Caribbean and South America. It stands as a historic symbol of a multicultural society that has turned its diversity into its greatest strength.
