Colorado State Flag
3' x 5' polyester Colorado Flag with two grommets, double-stitched top and bottom edges, and a triple-stitched fly edge to reduce fraying.
The Design:The layout features three equal horizontal stripes of blue, white, and blue, with a prominent red capital "C" wrapped around a solid gold disk offset toward the hoist.
Watch my video breaking down the details of the C and why it's annoyingly inconsistent.
Every element directly reflects the natural geography of the Centennial State. The blue stripes represent the clear blue skies, the white stripe symbolizes the snow-capped Rocky Mountains, the red "C" stands for the red soil (from the Spanish word colorado, meaning "ruddy" or "reddish"), and the golden yellow disk signifies the abundance of sunshine the state enjoys year-round.
The History: Designed by Andrew Carlisle Carson and officially adopted by the Colorado General Assembly on June 5, 1911, this flag underwent precise color standardization in 1929 and 1964 to get its iconic look just right. Colorado gained statehood under President Ulysses S. Grant in 1876, exactly 100 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence in the United States, earning it's nickname "The Centennial State."
🏴 Days of Celebration: Coloradans fly this flag on Colorado Day (August 1st), and basically all year round...because it's an epic flag for an epic state and they have a lot to be proud of.
