✍️  The Design: 3ft x 5ft United States flag complete with 51 stars in six alternating rows of nine and eight. 51st star to promote and encourage DC statehood!

🧵 These 3ft x 5ft USA flags are fully sewn nylon stripes and embroidered stars (51 one of them) with two brass grommets on the hoist edge. The fly edge is triple-stitched. This is the first nylon flag we've been able to offer and we are very excited to get it in your hands!

👨🏻‍🏫 Notes from Michael: I hate hearing people say "We can't add more states, we'd have to change the flag!" To them, I say, duh, it's already been designed and you probably couldn't tell the difference if you saw it. And then I go into my full 16 minute TED talk about how our flag is meant to grow and change with us as a nation and blah blah blah...

Now to DC Statehood. Our nation was founded on the principles of "No taxation without representation". However, there are three-quarters of a million people living in DC with just this plight. There are two US states with a smaller population than DC. We're long past the time when this needs to be remedied.

Meet The Designer

Francis Hopkinson is credited for designing the Stars and Stripes, (no, not Betsy Ross). He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, designer of Continental paper money, vexillographer (designer of flags). The best proof that we have of him designing the US flag is that on May 25, 1780, in a letter to the Continental Board of Admiralty, he mentions several patriotic designs he had completed during the previous three years, including "the Flag of the United States of America". He also noted that he had not asked for any compensation for the designs but was seeking a reward: "a Quarter Cask of the public Wine."

What a legend. (He was never paid)

FAQ

Find the most frequently asked questions below.
  • This flag has fully embroidered stars and sewn stripes.

  • It really depends on the environment it is flying in. Direct UV exposure, wind, rain, latitude, and especially hitting things like the brick on a house will shorten your flag's life. Also, dark colors fade first and the fastest. See our care page to make your flag last the longest!

  • We want you to love your flag. If you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase, we offer a 30-day return policy. Simply contact us at orders@flagsforgood.com, and we’ll guide you through the process. Read more here

  • We are a small team with limited shelf space. If a design is popular, we start expanding the sizes we offer of that flag. Let us know if you really want to see more of this design!

  • We ship most things that don't include poles in discreet black eco-mailers. They're made from recovered ocean-bound plastic, so even our packaging does good!

Anything shipped with a flag pole, garden pole, or large numbers of flags comes in a standard cardboard box.

  • You choose! We offer standard USPS and expedited shipping options at checkout. Standard shipping typically takes 3-5 business days within the continental US, while expedited options are available for faster delivery if you choose to upgrade. We try to get orders in the mail as soon as we can. This could be as fast as the next day or take us a few days during busy times.
