✍️ The Design: The national flag of Cape Verde, also known as the Bandeira de Cabo Verde, is a striking and modern design adopted in 1992. It replaced the original post-independence banner that shared a similar aesthetic with the Guinea-Bissau flag. This transition marked a new chapter for the island nation, moving away from continental revolutionary colors toward symbols that reflect its unique Atlantic identity.
The deep blue field represents the vast Atlantic Ocean and the clear skies above the archipelago. Three horizontal stripes of white and red run through the lower third of the flag, symbolizing the nation's path toward growth and construction through peace (white) and effort (red). The most iconic feature is the circle of ten gold stars. Each star represents one of the ten main islands that make up the country, while the circular arrangement signifies the unity and equality of the people.
National Days of Celebration: The flag is at the heart of the festivities during Independence Day on July 5, which commemorates the nation's break from Portuguese rule in 1975. It is also a central symbol on National Heroes Day, observed every January 20 to honor those who fought for the country's freedom.

Yes! Our single-layer flags have full rich color on both sides of the fabric.

This flag is single-layer, meaning it is printed on the front. On the reverse side, the text will appear mirrored. If you want it oriented correctly on both sides, look for our flags that have a "double-layer" option.

It really depends on the environment it is flying in. Direct UV exposure, wind, rain, latitude, and especially hitting things like the brick on a house will shorten your flag's life. Also, dark colors fade first and the fastest. See our care page to make your flag last the longest!

We ship most things that don't include poles in discreet black eco-mailers. They're made from recovered ocean-bound plastic, so even our packaging does good!
Anything shipped with a flag pole, garden pole, or large numbers of flags comes in a standard cardboard box.

You choose! We offer standard USPS and expedited shipping options at checkout. Standard shipping typically takes 3-5 business days within the continental US, while expedited options are available for faster delivery if you choose to upgrade. We try to get orders in the mail as soon as we can. This could be as fast as the next day or take us a few days during busy times.
