🏴  3' x 5' Menacing Loon Minnesota Flag designed by Rob McBroom, with grommets and double stitched edges to reduce fraying.

✍️  The Design: One of the more iconic flags to come out of Minnesota's new flag commission, Rob McBroom's Menacing Loon was a flag we HAD to make IRL. Featuring the head of the iconic bird of Minnesota, it's red eye stares right into the viewer's soul. On the fly edge, a North Star symbolizing Minnesota's state motto.

THE "FOR GOOD" PART

  • 🪢 Made from 100% durable polyester
  • 💪Sturdy canvas header with two metal grommets for hanging
  • 😎 Weather & fade resistant
  • 💨 Designed to fly easily in low or high wind
  • 🏳️‍🌈 Full rich color on both sides
  • 🪡 Double-stitched top and bottom edges with triple-stitched fly edge for maximum strength!

If you don't have a flag pole to hang this on, grab one of our home flag pole kits! It's easy to assemble and ready to make some neighbors jealous (or mad...depending...)

Meet The Designer

Minneapolis-based Rob McBroom blends pop & folk art with a mix of co-opted corporate branding, humor & a healthy dose of glitter. He's exhibited extensively in the Twin cities area at OX-OP Gallery, Soo Visual Arts Center, the Minneapolis Institute of Art with solo shows, Zoo at Gus Lucky's Gallery in 2001 & two in 2009 with Your Ad Here at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls & Heavy Pettingat Fox Tax Gallery. In 1999, he was the recipient of a Jerome Foundation grant for the Art In Space program at Intermedia Arts which led to a massive installation of lemur sculptures dealing with conservation that in turn, garnered a studio visit from a curator of the Whitney Museum of American Art while selecting artists for their 2002 Biennial.

Two of his pieces were included in the 2004 Qeedrophonic show that premiered at OX-OP before traveling on to Subliminal Projects in Los Angeles & the Laforet Harajuku Centre in Tokyo. Since then, Rob has been in a myriad of group shows from Boston to Amsterdam to Barcelona.

Rob is best known for both his irreverent entries for the Federal Duck Stamp Contest using glitter, rhinestones & corporate logos as well as his rivalries with some of the other traditional wildlife artists that have a huge problem with his artwork being included in the competition. Both have been covered for years in magazines, books, film & TV including Martin J. Smith’s nonfiction book, The Wild Duck Chase, the 2016 documentary The Million Dollar Duck that aired on Animal Planet & Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

Though infrequent, Rob has also been known to eat an entire head of raw cabbage in one sitting & has done so on multiple occasions.

FAQ

Find the most frequently asked questions below.
  • We donate $1 to nonprofits and organizations supporting progressive, humanitarian, and justice-oriented causes around the world. You can select which organization you want your purchase to support in the box below the "Add To Cart" button.

If you do not select a cause, your purchase's donation will be split among all the causes listed equally!

  • Yes! All of our flags have full rich color on both sides.

  • Single-layer flags are printed on the front, so on the reverse side, any text will appear mirrored. If you want it oriented correctly on both sides, select "double-layer" options.

  • It really depends on the environment it is flying in. Direct UV exposure, wind, rain, latitude, and especially hitting things like the brick on a house will shorten your flag's life. Also, dark colors fade first and the fastest. See our care page to make your flag last the longest!

  • We want you to love your flag. If you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase, we offer a 30-day return policy. Simply contact us at orders@flagsforgood.com, and we’ll guide you through the process. Read more here

  • We are a small team with limited shelf space. If a design is popular, we start expanding what sizes we offer of that flag. Let us know if you really want to see more of this design!

  • We ship most things that don't include poles in discreet black eco-mailers. They're made from recovered ocean-bound plastic, so even our packaging does good!

Anything shipped with a flag pole, garden pole, or large numbers of flags comes in a standard cardboard box.

  • You choose! We offer standard USPS and expedited shipping options at checkout. Standard shipping typically takes 3-5 business days within the continental US, while expedited options are available for faster delivery if you choose to upgrade. We try to get orders in the mail as soon as we can. This could be as fast as the next day or take us a few days during busy times.
