Taiwan Flag 🇹🇼
3' x 5' Taiwan Flag. Complete with grommets and double-stitched edges to reduce fraying.
The flag of Taiwan, often referred to as "Blue Sky, White Sun, and a Wholly Red Earth," has a complex history and deep philosophical roots. Originally designed in the late 19th century and officially adopted as the national flag in 1928, it serves as a powerful symbol of the nation’s journey toward democracy and its distinct cultural identity.
The design is divided into three meaningful sections:
- The Blue Sky: Located in the upper left (the canton), the blue represents liberty, justice, and the spirit of progress.
- The White Sun: Positioned within the blue sky, the sun has twelve rays, representing the twelve months of the year and the twelve traditional "watches" of the day, symbolizing the spirit of tireless self-improvement.
- The Red Earth: The field of red that fills the rest of the flag stands for fraternity, sacrifice, and the blood of those who fought to establish the republic.
Together, these elements embody the "Three Principles of the People": Nationalism, Democracy, and the Livelihood of the People. It is a flag that carries the weight of history and the bright hope of a free society for Taiwan.
